A Guide to Heat Transfer Materials: Hand Feel, Color and Durability
BACKDifferent fabrics and graphics require different heat transfer materials. The right choice improves both production efficiency and finished quality.
Choosing a heat transfer material starts with the fabric. Cotton, polyester, blends and stretch textiles differ in heat resistance, surface structure and elasticity, so each requires suitable adhesive performance and transfer conditions.
For detailed graphics, cutting and weeding behavior affect productivity. For larger designs, softness, breathability and stretch recovery become more important. Color opacity and wash durability should always be confirmed on the actual fabric.
Before volume production, record temperature, time, pressure and cooling method, then complete wash and stretch tests. Stable process settings reduce batch variation and support both visual quality and wearing comfort.
